President Joko Widodo Delivers Speech at Indonesian Armed Forces 79th Anniversary: Thank You for Your Loyalty and Service for the People and Nation
SEAToday.com, Jakarta-President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo delivered a speech at the Indonesian Armed Forces' 79th anniversary celebration, held at the National Monument, Saturday (10/5).
President Jokowi wished the Armed Forces (TNI) a happy 79th anniversary, and thanked them for their loyalty and service for the people and the country.
"Over the last 10 years of leading Indonesia, I truly felt your role and contribution in guarding the nation and its unity, as well as the political stability, and overcoming challenges and crises." President Jokowi said.
President Jokowi also thanked Defense Minister and President-Elect Prabowo Subianto, who has served for the last 5 years and increased Indonesia's defense strength in facing challenges, modernizing defense equipment, and many more.
President Jokowi encouraged the TNI to prepare for upcoming complex challenges. "The development of science and technology, dangerous cyber threats, tense geopolitical conditions, as well as conventional, economic, and trade wars must be faced with vigilance," President Jokowi said.
President Jokowi said, the TNI must be able to improve and follow the current trend, adapt, and increase its professionalism and capacity, as well as collaborate with parties such as law enforcement, universities, and industries.
President Jokowi also said that there will be a transition of power in the near future. The President asked TNI to maintain the stability and support the transition well. "Don't let there be threats to national security," the President highlighted.
There will also be a Regional Heads Elections. The TNI was asked to maintain the conducive situation and remain neutral in the elections. "Thank you, Indonesian Armed Forces, for supporting the President for the past 10 years," President Jokowi said to conclude his speech.
