Burning Sun: The Dark Side of Korean Entertainment
SEAToday.com, Seoul-The South Korean entertainment industry is under the spotlight after the “Burning Sun” scandal documentary was released by BBC, Sunday (5/19). The 1-hour film follows the struggle of two South Korean journalists in revealing the sex scandal that involved top celebrities.
In the documentary, the proof of their sexual crimes were shown, including the chat room they used, which made netizens upset.
The Burning Sun scandal took place in 2019, and the case included prostitution business, the distribution of nonconsensual intimate tape, the use of date rape drug, tax evasion, and more.
Among the harassers are Big Bang former member Seungri, singer Jung Joon-young, and FT Island former guitarist Choi Jong-hoon. Seungri was sentenced to one and a half years imprisonment, Jung was sentenced to five years imprisonment, and Choi was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment.
Now, all of them are out of prison.
