SEAToday.com, Jakarta-President Prabowo inaugurated Basuki Hadimuljono as the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority Head at the State Palace, Tuesday (11/5). Prior to becoming the IKN Authority Head, Basuki was the IKN Authority Acting Head and Public Works and Public Housing Minister.
In his statement to reporters, President Prabowo explained several tasks that Pak Bas will carry out. Basuki was asked to continue the development of the ecosystem in the Government Center Core Area or KPIP, which currently only has an executive, in this case, the Presidential Palace.
“For KPIP, only the judiciary and legislature remain. The president asked the judiciary, executive, and legislature to prepare and occupy four more years (2028),” Pak Bas said. Pak Bas continued that the judicial and legislative facilities built include ecosystems in the form of housing, offices, and basic needs.
In addition to completing construction in the judiciary and legislative regions, Pak Bas was asked to accelerate the completion of several public infrastructures that had been initiated by Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
As the IKN Authority Head, Pak Bas tries to attract investors to participate in developing IKN in the next four years. “Up until the last groundbreaking, the state budget was IDR 86 trillion, and investment was IDR 58 trillion, the last groundbreaking was before October 20, 2024, yesterday,” Pak Bas said.
The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry reported that the first batch of the IKN construction was 94 percent complete, and the second batch reached over 60 percent completion, while the third batch neared 40 percent completion.
Pak Bas’ duties as IKN Authority Head has been regulated in Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Nusantara Capital City (IKN Law). The IKN Authority is responsible for activities, preparation, development, and relocation of the capital, as well as organizing the IKN Special Regional Government.
In addition, according to the IKN Law Article 12 concerning Form, Structure, Authority, and Government Affairs, the IKN Authority is given special authority. The authority exercised by Pak Bas are the granting of investment licenses, ease of doing business, providing special facilities to parties that support financing in the context of activities, preparation, construction, and relocation of the National Capital, as well as the development of IKN and partner regions.
