Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency to Conduct Megathrust Earthquake Drill

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) is set to conduct a disaster simulation training exercise to prepare for the potential Sunda Strait Megathrust Earthquake.

According to Wardaya, Head of the Emergency and Refugee Handling Sub-Group at BPBD Jakarta, on Monday (9/16), the agency will collaborate with the fire department, the National Search and Rescue Agency, and the company's K3 (Occupational Safety and Health) expert team for the drill.

He mentioned that the simulation scenarios will cover various disaster scenarios, including earthquakes in hospitals, densely populated areas, markets, schools, and offices. In addition to earthquakes, the drill will also address fire and flood disasters.

Even at the BPBD Jakarta office in Petojo Utara, Gambir, a literacy room facility and disaster-related equipment have been made available to the community for free daily use.
