SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The government has made various efforts to eradicate online gambling practices in Indonesia, one of which is cutting off Internet communication access to and from the Philippines and Cambodia.

The Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kemenkominfo) Usman Kansong said that online gambling sites from Cambodia and Davao, the Philippines, could not be accessed in Indonesia, and that monitoring of its effectiveness was ongoing.

However, Usman said that the Kemenkominfo has not yet established special cooperation with the authorities of the two countries. “There is no special cooperation with the Philippine or Cambodian authorities because there may be differences regarding online gambling regulations,” he said.

In addition, the government will also increase the blocking of accounts with indications of online gambling activities to narrow the space for online gambling players.
