SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency head Ani Ruspitawati announced on Monday (5/27) that free pneumococcal conjugate (PCV) vaccines are now available for children as part of routine immunizations.

Parents can get the vaccine for their children at government health facilities or participating non-government hospitals.

The PCV vaccine is administered in a series, two or three doses at 2 and 3 months of age, followed by a booster dose at 12 months. These injections are usually given alongside other routine vaccinations like DPT-HB-Hib, polio drops, and rotavirus.

In its implementation, Ani said some parents are hesitant about multiple injections during immunization visits or may not be aware of the complete routine immunization schedule. The Health Agency is working to address these concerns.
