Merdeka Curriculum Established as National Curriculum

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Education, Research and Technology Ministry has established the Merdeka Curriculum as the national curriculum to be used for early childhood education, primary education, and secondary education. The curriculum is based on the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Regulation No. 12 of 2024.

Education, Culture, Research and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim said, there are several important essences in the independent curriculum. The material presented is more concise and simple, and avoids unnecessary material so as not to burden students. In addition, this curriculum also gives teachers the freedom to provide learning materials according to students’ needs.

The implementation of the curriculum for other than the outermost, backward, and frontier (3T) areas will be given time for the transition period until 2026-2027 at the latest. Meanwhile, for 3T areas, no later than 2027-2028.
