GBK Declared as First Sport Venue to Use 100 Pct. Renewable Energy in Indonesia
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area became the first sports venue and green open space in Indonesia to use 100 percent renewable energy after PT PLN (Persero) provided green electricity of 5.54 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) service.
The REC service in this area is a cooperation between PLN Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit (UID) and Bung Karno Complex Management Center.
PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo said REC is the solution for the decarbonization steps, especially in the industrial and commercial sectors. This step is also an effort to achieve the target of reducing carbon emissions towards net zero emissions by 2060.
The electricity will be supplied to the GBK main stadium, indoor tennis, center court, swimming stadium, Istora and local infrastructure.
