President Prabowo to Establish 85 Nutritious Food Trial Service Units

SEAToday.com, Magelang - President Prabowo Subianto is establishing 85 service unit offices for the Free Nutritious Meal program which is currently being tested in all provinces in Indonesia. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the service units are being prepared ahead of the program's implementation in early January 2025.
“This trial is not only in one place. We have a test site that has been running for months. There have been more or less 10 months, there have been many evaluations,” he said after attending the Red and White Cabinet Retreat at Akmil Magelang, Central Java, Sunday, October 27, 2024, as reported by Antara.
One of the service offices is currently domiciled in Magelang, on Jalan Jendral Gatot Soebroto, which is close to Akmil. The Free Nutritious Meal Service Unit, which provides 3,000 to 4,000 portions for beneficiaries in Magelang, functions to coordinate food distribution with related parties.
Prasetyo promises that the service unit can be spread massively to reach the outer coastal areas, outer islands, including in the Papua region, starting next year.
He said that the government, through the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as the person in charge of the program, still needs special methods to reach these areas.
“ However, the system may not be perfect yet. Because we are only starting this year, the country will implement a nutritious meal program,” he said.
Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, explained the number of Service Unit offices that are now running the Free Nutritious Meal trial.
“Yes, there are 85 service units spread across all provinces and this will be a national pilot,” he said via text message.
