Prabowo-Gibran Takes Oath of Office as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka took the oath of office as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 service period at the MPR RI Plenary Session at Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Sunday.
Dressed in suits and traditional Betawi cloths, Prabowo and Gibran took the oath of office smoothly under the Holy Quran.
“By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and as fair as possible, uphold the Constitution and carry out all laws and regulations in a straightforward manner and be devoted to Nusa and the Nation,” Prabowo said, reading out his oath.
Gibran also took his oath as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
After that, both signed the Inauguration Minutes.
A total of 709 out of 731 MPR RI members witnessed the oath of office. The MPR RI Plenary Session was also attended by national figures, political party leaders, and representatives of friendly countries.
At least 20 head of state-level officials and 18 ministerial-level officials attended the inauguration ceremony at the Nusantara Building.
The countries that sent their representatives to attend the inauguration ceremony included Germany, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Laos, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Serbia, and China.
Other countries include Cambodia, New Zealand, Solomons, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, India, Jordan, Japan, Italy, Canada, France, Brazil and Fiji.
