SEAToday.com, New York - The UN warned that conditions in Northern Gaza had reached “catastrophic” as the Israeli military is “severely compromising people’s access to means of survival”, Tuesday (10/15).
Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated that only three hospitals are operating in Northern Gaza, only with minimum capacity and lack of fuel, blood, and medications. None of the over two dozen primary healthcare centers in Northern Gaza remains functional.
The UN also reported that last week aid distribution of food parcels and flours had been carried out, but there is “barely any left to distribute”. Most bakeries are estimated to be forced to close again just within days.
Reports from OCHA said that only one out of 54 aid movements to Northern Gaza was facilitated by Israel in the first two weeks of October. “85 percent were denied,” added Dujarric, “the rest impeded or canceled due to various logistical or security reasons.”
