Joe Biden to Send a Delegation to Attend Prabowo's Inauguration

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The United States Embassy in Jakarta says US President Joe Biden will send a presidential delegation to attend the inauguration of Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto on October 20.

US President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. announced the appointment of a presidential delegation to attend the inauguration of His Excellency Prabowo Subianto on October 20, 2024, in Jakarta, Indonesia, according to a press release from the US Embassy in Jakarta on Saturday.

US Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield will lead the delegation.

The members of the delegation are US Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command of the Department of Defense Admiral Samuel Paparo, US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel J. Kritenbrink and Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania, National Security Council (NSC), White House Mira Rapp-Hooper.

On October 20, 2024, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be inaugurated as president and vice president of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period at 10:00 am at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta.

Candidates participating in the 2024 presidential election and all leaders of political parties participating in the 2024 election are invited to attend the inauguration procession.

Afterward, Prabowo and Gibran are scheduled to go to the Presidential Palace to attend a farewell ceremony with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
