Prabowo Meets Vietnamese Prime Minister to Strengthen Regional Stability
SEAToday.com, Hanoi - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Pham Minh Chinh in Vietnam to strengthen cooperation in maintaining regional stability, Saturday (9/14).
In an official press release of the Ministry of Defense received in Jakarta, it was explained that Prabowo also conveyed Indonesia's commitment to strengthen cooperation in various sectors that have been established for a long time.
“We recognize Vietnam as a good friend and partner and admire Vietnam's (independence) struggle which is an inspiration for everyone in the world,” Prabowo said in the press release.
In addition, Prabowo, who is also the elected presidential candidate, asked for support from Vietnam for the successful co-chairmanship of Indonesia and the United States in the Asean Defense Minister Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Expert Working Group (EWG) on Military Medicine.
“Indonesia also expects continued support from Vietnam for the successful co-chairmanship of Indonesia and the United States in the ADMM-Plus EWG on Military Medicine in the 2024-2027 cycle,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo hopes that the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam will be even stronger in the future.
Previously, Prabowo had also met with several Vietnamese officials during his state visit. Some of them met Vietnamese President H.E. Tô Lâm on Friday (13/9) and Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly H.E. Tran Thanh Man today at 10am local time.
During the meeting with the two figures, Prabowo discussed various cooperation plans, one of which was in the defense sector.
