SEAToday.com, Kuala Lumpur - Indonesian Defence Minister and president-elect Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (9/7) arrived in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Prabowo immediately met with the King of Malaysia Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim.

Apparently, Prabowo and Sultan Ibrahim have been friends for 40 years. The two became acquainted when they were both studying military education at Fort Bragg, United States.

Meeting with his old friend, Prabowo invited Sultan Ibrahim to exchange ideas and discuss ideas for the progress of Indonesia and Malaysia, including cooperation between the two ASEAN countries.

‘I appreciate the strong relationship between our two countries and will continue to strive to improve cooperation, especially in the field of defence,' Prabowo said in his written statement.

Prabowo hopes that the cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia will continue for the sake of mutual interests. Prabowo and Sultan Ibrahim also want Indonesia and Malaysia to work together during the 44th Malindo General Border Committee (GBC) meeting to be held.

Before visiting Malaysia, Prabowo is known to have visited four ASEAN countries namely Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Cambodia. He also travelled to Thailand for a private visit to meet former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and new Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
