Badan Kebudayaan PBB Rekomendasikan Pemantauan Situs Bersejarah di Laos dan Kamboja

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Badan kebudayaan PBB merekomendasikan Laos untuk memantau kota bersejarah Luang Prabang dan situs UNESCO Angkor Wat di Kamboja.

Kota Laos telah menimbulkan kekhawatiran karena proyek bendungan di Sungai Mekong yang berpotensi menghilangkan status khusus kota tersebut, sementara situs di Angkor menimbulkan kekhawatiran karena adanya relokasi penduduk secara paksa.

Komite Warisan Dunia mengkhawatirkan Luang Prabang akan kemungkinan proyek bendungan tersebut mempengaruhi lahan basah yang dilindungi dan bantaran sungai di kota tersebut.

Tim proyek bendungan juga membangun bendungan di dekat garis patahan aktif, yang dikhawatirkan oleh penduduk setempat adalah bendungan tersebut jebol akibat gempa bumi dan mengakibatkan banjir.

Karena kekhawatiran tersebut, komite ini menyarankan pemerintah Laos untuk membentuk tim ahli dan berkolaborasi dengan pihak berwenang agar dapat menilai risiko dan melestarikan konservasi.

Di sisi lain, komite juga prihatin dengan pelanggaran hak asasi manusia di Situs Warisan Angkor Wat, karena pihak berwenang setempat memaksa penduduk setempat untuk pindah dari area warisan demi memperluas area permukiman.

Penggusuran paksa tersebut merusak budaya dan adat istiadat Angkor Wat, serta membahayakan keberadaan mereka karena mereka tidak terlindungi dengan baik di tempat yang seharusnya menjadi situs warisan.

Selain itu, UNESCO juga menyarankan para ahli untuk melaporkan dan mendukung pihak berwenang dalam upaya pelestarian Angkor Wat, dan mengembalikan penduduk setempat ke Situs Warisan Angkor Wat.
