SEAToday.com, Sabah - Sabah is on the quest to present itself as the best global destination for birdwatching, which is supported by the Sabah’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment. Such a quest is followed by the increasing global attention paid to the Sabah birding route at the Global Bird Fair last weekend, which was held July 12-14 in the United Kingdom.

Sabah's Assistant Minister for Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai launched a guide map for birdwatching routes to promote Sabah's birdwatching destination at the expo as a global birdwatching destination. Joniston also welcomed the global community to connect with Malaysia and explore the natural beauty of Sabah.

As Malaysia’s birding flagship, Joniston also outlines the best birdwatching locations in Mount Kinabalu as a VIP lounge for birds due to its role as a key distribution centre for Borneo’s montane birds. Currently, there are 688 bird species to show in the birding experience and allow enthusiasts to explore Sabah’s rich avian diversity with ease.

Moreover, the Sabah tourism board prepares the guide map with input from the Sabah Birdwatchers Association.

The president of Sabah Birdwatcher Association Ron Pudin said the opportunity to produce the birding route map has opened the door to working with the World Pheasant Association to enhance knowledge of birding experience.
