Nusantara to Temporarily Halt Construction in Preparation for Independence Day Ceremony

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry, through the Nusantara (IKN)’s Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force, revealed the IKN construction will be temporarily suspended ahead of the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony.

The Task Force Chairman Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga on Friday (7/5) explained the suspension of construction work activities will take effect six days before Independence Day on August 17. “But the mobilization, trucks and so on  will stop on August 10,” he added.

He also explained that the workers will not be sent home. Instead, the PUPR Ministry will provide other activities such as certification training. Meanwhile, administrative and office workers will continue to work as usual.
