SEAToday.com, Busan - South Korea is currently facing a demographic crisis due to its low birth rate. In response to South Korea's low birth rate, the Saha District Government in Busan is launching a matchmaking program this October for its citizens.

To participate, individuals must be between 24-43 years old, living or working in Saha district, and willing to go through a selection and interview process. Currently, the program is open to Korean citizens only, but future expansion to include foreigners is planned.

Participants matched through the program will receive an incentive of 500,000 won (approximately 5.9 million rupiah) when they are matched through this program. Couples who proceed to marriage will each receive an additional 1 million won (approximately 11.8 million rupiah).

Beyond financial incentives, the district will offer newlyweds a deposit of 30 million won (approximately 354 million rupiah) to assist with purchasing a house, or an alternative option of 800,000 won (approximately 9.4 billion rupiah) per month for rent for five years.
