Thailand's Scorching Summer Heat Poses Significant Health Risks
Extreme heat will happen across Thailand this summer, starting from March to April.

SEAToday.com, Bangkok-On March 7, Thailand’s Meteorological Department revealed that the temperatures for the 2024 summer will be 1 to 2 degrees Celsius warmer than the average summer before in Thailand. The agency also revealed that temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius are predicted throughout every part of Thailand from March until April.

Meanwhile, Thai’s Department of Health says that the heat index is expected to rise above 50 degrees Celsius this year. This can cause multiple health risks and may result in fatalities.

Young children, the elderly, outdoor workers, all those who engage in outdoor activities for extended periods, and those with chronic illnesses and obesity are faced with greater risks during extreme heat. Make sure to drink a lot of water and stay in the shade if you must go outdoors.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department said summer temperature this year would be accompanied by lower-than-average rainfall. Last year, the hottest month of April saw temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius across most parts of Thailand. (ANDIN/ REZA)
