SEAToday.com, Putrajaya-The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission, MACC, has revealed that a long list of individuals is expected to be summoned to investigate the mismanagement and procurement of the government‘s vehicles worth RM4.5 billion.

Among the names on the list, a former finance minister and a businessman named “Tan Sri” will also be called to help shed light on two issues.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam, stated that the former minister would be asked to explain the reasons for canceling government contracts with a company that had already received a letter of intent. As well as the reason why that project was transferred to the suspected company.

The list of names was put together after the bureau conducted a series of raids on the unspecified Tan Sri businessman's house last Thursday and four companies one of which was responsible for supplying the vehicles for the government.

Furthermore, the MACC has expressed that the main goal was to obtain documents to establish possible elements of corruption. Sources also added that during the raid Tan Sri was present at home in one of the offices.

In response, the suspected company claimed to have been selected to manage the project through a letter of intent in 2018, but it was terminated before the official announcement. The company has since taken legal action against the government. (ALWI/ALVIN)
