SEAToday.com, Phnom Penh-The Cambodian government has officially reaffirmed its strong support for the one-china policy, adding that it accepts solely the People’s Republic of China or P-C-R as the only legitimate representative of the Chinese nation.

This was in response to developments in Taiwan, which China considers to be part of its territory, following the success of the pro-independence democratic progressive party or D-P-P in the island’s recent legislative elections.

In addition, on January 15, An Sokkhoeurn from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a statement that laid out strong support for the one-china policy.

Furthermore, he said that given recent developments in Taiwan/ the ministry reiterates Cambodia’s firm commitment to the one-china policy/ recognizing the People’s Republic of China as the sole government representing all of China.

And last, he added that Prime Minister Hun Manet has emphasized the government’s commitment to a “one-china policy” to strengthen the existing strong relationship between Cambodia and China. (KEISHA/ALVIN)
