First Royal Wedding in 2024, Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei is Tying The Knot!
SEAToday.com, Bandar Seri Begawan-Prince Abdul Mateen bin Hassanal Bolkiah is tying the knot with his fiancée Anisha Isa Kalebic, on Thursday (1/11) at The Sultan Omar Arief Saifuddien Mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, and be fêted at a royal banquet on January 14, with a global guest list. The Sultan of Brunei’s son's wedding is the first royal wedding of 2024.
The wedding celebrations are set to last 10 days from 7-16 January. Starting from last Sunday (1/7), a pre-wedding ceremony known as the Khatam Quran, took place.
The bride and groom also hold the Berbedak Mandi ceremony on Wednesday (1/10). In this ceremony, the groom and bride-to-be are scrubbed by their family members and relatives using a traditional scrub powder that symbolizes fertility and wealth. This is a traditional Brunei ceremony that is usually held near the wedding day.
Prince Mateen and Anisha have reportedly been dating for a few years, and the Sultan announced their engagement in October 2023. The bride is the granddaughter of the Sultan's special advisor, Pehin Dato Isa, and the groom is a helicopter pilot and major in the Royal Brunei Air Force.
