SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti has announced a change in the school holiday schedule in preparation for Eid al-Fitr 2025. This adjustment is part of the revised learning policy during the month of Ramadan.
According to Mu'ti, this decision has been agreed upon by the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Religious Affairs and will soon be formalized through a new Joint Ministerial Circular (SEB).
"We are just waiting for the signatures on the Joint Ministerial Circular from the three ministers," Mu'ti stated in Jakarta on Tuesday (3/4).
He explained that the revised 2025 Eid holiday schedule for schools, madrasahs, and religious education institutions has been coordinated with discussions involving the Minister of Transportation, the work from anywhere (WFA) policy regulated by the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), and directives from the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. According to these directives, the government will implement WFA starting seven days before Eid.
Under the new schedule, independent learning at home will continue until March 5, 2025. Then, from March 6 to March 20, students will return to in-person learning at schools, madrasahs, or religious education institutions.
The Eid holiday period will now take place from March 21-28 and continue from April 2-8, 2025. Students are scheduled to resume school on April 9, 2025.
Previously, the 2025 school Eid holiday was set from March 26 to April 8. This change will be officially outlined in the Joint Ministerial Circular issued by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, the Minister of Religious Affairs, and the Minister of Home Affairs regarding learning activities during Ramadan 1446 Hijri/2025 AD.
