Vietnam to Provide Free Public School Education Starting September 2025

SEAToday.com, Hanoi - Vietnam’s Politburo has announced a decision to fully waive school fees for students attending public schools, from preschool to high school, across the country starting in September 2025.
This policy marks a significant step in expanding access to education and easing the financial burden on families.
The Politburo has assigned the Government Party Committee to instruct the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Finance, and other relevant authorities to coordinate the implementation of this policy.
Currently, under Vietnam’s Education Law, elementary school students in public institutions are already exempt from tuition fees.
Several regions, including Quang Ninh, Hai Phòng, Yên Bái, Quang Nam, Khánh Hòa, Đà Nẵng, Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu, Bình Dương, and Long An, have already implemented tuition-free policies for students.
Meanwhile, tuition exemptions for preschool students have been in effect since September 1, 2024, as stipulated in Government Decree No. 81.
