Israel Releases Dozens of Palestinian Prisoners from Ofer Prison

SEAToday.com, Ramallah - Israel released dozens of Palestinian detainees from Ofer Prison on Thursday (2/27) morning local time.
A bus carrying the released prisoners arrived in the city of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, before heading to the Ramallah Cultural Palace, where their families were waiting, according to a correspondent from Turkey’s Anadolu News Agency.
The report also stated that the bus was escorted by a team from the International Committee of the Red Cross during the journey.
Meanwhile, Hamas’ Prisoner Information Office reported that out of a total of 620 prisoners set to be released, 43 were expected to return to the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
This release is part of the seventh wave of a delayed prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel.
On the other hand, an Israeli security source on Wednesday (2/26) night revealed that Red Cross vehicles were en route to a pickup point to receive the bodies of four Israeli detainees from the Gaza Strip.
“The Red Cross is currently heading to the pickup point to receive the bodies of four hostages,” reported Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, citing an anonymous source without providing further details.
