High Demand for Eid Travel, 385,000 Train Tickets Already Booked

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Long-distance train (KAJJ) tickets for the 1446 Hijri Eid travel period are in high demand. As of Sunday (23/2), PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded 385,822 tickets sold.
To anticipate the surge in passengers, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has prepared 1,826 KAJJ trips during the period from March 21 to April 11, 2025. This includes 330 additional train trips, averaging 15 extra trips per day—two more than previously planned.
"As of today, additional trains are available for trips from H-10 to H+8 Eid. Tickets can be booked starting at 00:00 WIB," said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta's Public Relations Manager, Ixfan Hendriwintoko, on Sunday (23/2).
A total of 15 additional trains have been prepared for popular routes, including Cirebon, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, Bandung, and Malang. Some of these are the Gajayana Additional train (Gambir-Malang), Kutojaya Utara (Pasar Senen-Kutoarjo), and Kertajaya Additional (Pasar Senen-Surabaya Pasar Turi).
The total seating capacity for all these trips reaches 967,164 seats. Ixfan predicts that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on March 29, 2025, or one day before Eid, with the highest number of passengers reaching 41,260 people, approximately 93 percent of total capacity.
For those looking to secure tickets, bookings can be made starting from 45 days before departure, both for regular trips and additional trains.
With these additional services, KAI aims to provide a smooth and comfortable homecoming journey for travelers celebrating Eid with their families.
