KAI Commuter Introduces Disability Card for Jabodetabek KRL Passengers

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has introduced a Disability Card to facilitate access for passengers with disabilities on the Jabodetabek Commuter Line.
The official launch took place at Sudirman Baru Station (BNI City), Jakarta, on Friday (14/2/2025). The card is designed to help identify individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate assistance.
“This is not just a way to recognize friends with disabilities, but also to help security personnel and passenger services quickly identify and assist them,” said Asdo during the Grand Launching event.
Beyond serving as an identification tool, the Disability Card also functions as a Multi Trip Card (KMT) for KRL fare payments. The development and implementation of this initiative took considerable time to ensure inclusivity.
“We wanted to ensure that no one felt marginalized, so we engaged with the disability community, local governments, and city authorities to create a system that serves everyone,” Asdo explained.
Passengers with disabilities can obtain this card free of charge, with fares still applicable based on their travel route.
“The card itself is free, similar to the pregnancy pin, which acts as an identifier. However, it does not provide free travel. The rights and obligations remain the same for all passengers, but we are committed to prioritizing services for people with disabilities, pregnant women, the elderly, and children,” he added.
To obtain a Disability Card, eligible passengers can register online via a barcode. Once registered, they will be contacted for collection at designated stations, including Bogor, Juanda, Sudirman, Tanah Abang, Duri, and Bekasi.
Following its launch in Jabodetabek, the Disability Card is planned to be introduced in other regions such as Bandung and Yogyakarta.
“This will be rolled out in stages. After Jabodetabek, we will expand to Greater Bandung and Yogyakarta,” Asdo stated.
For this initial phase, 1,500 Disability Cards have been issued and have been in use since Friday (14/2).
