SEAToday.com, Moscow - The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has fired more than 300 employees of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), according to a CNN report citing sources familiar with the situation.

The layoffs took place on Thursday (2/13) night and involved employees working at key facilities, including those responsible for overseeing construction contractors and inspecting nuclear weapons.

In addition, staff responsible for setting guidelines for contractors involved in nuclear weapons development were also dismissed, according to the media report.

However, a spokesperson for the Department of Energy denied the reported number of dismissals, stating that "fewer than 50 people," mostly administrative and clerical staff, had been let go.

Meanwhile, on Friday (2/14), CNN reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, that the Trump administration also forced the dismissal of several senior officials at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) as part of a major personnel overhaul at the agency.
