Transition to Smart Stations, KAI Commuter Plans to Close KRL Ticket Counters

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter) plans to gradually close ticket counters at KRL Commuter Line stations. KAI Commuter's President Director, Asdo Artiviyanto, stated that this move is part of a plan to transform stations into Smart Stations based on digital technology.
“We hope to launch this system this year with several banks, and top-up transactions using QRIS will replace the need for physical ticket counters,” he said.
This transformation will be implemented at stations that are already familiar with digital technology, such as BNI City Station. This station will serve as a model for Smart Stations that apply digital-based services.
“Service aspects, from information, passenger entry and exit services, to facilities such as toilets and prayer rooms, will all be managed using more efficient digital technology, reducing the need for manpower,” he explained.
Meanwhile, stations in areas that are not yet familiar with digital payment systems will continue to be served through manual counters.
