Ministry of Religious Affairs: 2025 Hajj Departure Begins Early May

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) issued a travel plan for the 1446 Hijri/2025 Hajj pilgrimage after previously deciding on the Hajj Implementation Fee (BPIH) with the Hajj Working Committee (Panja) of the House of Representatives Commission VIII.

“May 1, 2025 pilgrims will start entering the Hajj dormitory. May 2, 2025 is the beginning of the departure of the first wave of pilgrims from the country to Medina,” said Director General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hilman Latief in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The government and the House of Representatives have agreed on the BPIH 1446 Hijri/2025 with an average of Rp89,410,258.79. Of that amount, the Hajj Travel Cost (Bipih) paid by the average pilgrim is IDR 55,431,750.78.

The results of the agreement between the government and the DPR will be submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia to issue a Presidential Decree on BPIH 2025, and then the process of paying Bipih by pilgrims will be carried out.

Indonesia this year received 221,000 hajj quotas, consisting of 201,063 regular hajj pilgrims, 1,572 regional hajj officers, 685 supervisors at the Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU), and 17,680 special hajj pilgrims.

Hilman explained that the operational period for the departure and return of prospective pilgrims will last for 30 days. While the average stay of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia is 41 days.

The Hajj Travel Plan for 1446 H/2025 AD is as follows.

  1. May 1, 2025 (3 Zulqa'dah 1446 H): Pilgrims enter the Hajj dormitories.
  2. May 2, 2025 (4 Zulqa'dah 1446 H): Departure of the first wave of pilgrims to Madinah.
  3. May 11, 2025 (13 Zulqa'dah 1446 H): First wave departs from Madinah to Makkah.
  4. May 17, 2025 (19 Zulqa'dah 1446 H): Departure of the second wave of pilgrims to Jeddah.
  5. May 31, 2025 (4 Zulhijjah 1446 H): Last departure of the second wave to Jeddah.
  6. June 4, 2025 (8 Zulhijjah 1446 H): Pilgrims depart from Makkah to Arafah.
  7. June 5, 2025 (9 Zulhijjah 1446 H): Arafah standing (Wukuf).
  8. June 6, 2025 (10 Zulhijjah 1446 H): Eid al-Adha 1446 H.
  9. June 7, 2025 (11 Zulhijjah 1446): Day of Tasyrik I

Hilman emphasized that all Hajj preparations will proceed according to the schedule, ensuring that the departure and return of pilgrims will be smooth for their comfort.
