SEAToday.com, Marawi-The Philippines military troops on Wednesday arrested one of the suspects in the weekend bombing of the Mindanao State University or M-S-U gymnasium, which killed four persons and injured at least 50 others.

Armed forces of the Philippines Public Affairs Office, Chief Colonel Xerxes Trinidad, identified the suspect as Jafar Gamo Sultan alias "Jaf/Kurot” whose affiliation with a terror group remains uncertain.

Sultan was apprehended in an operation by Task Force Marawi in Barangay Dulay proper in Marawi based on an intelligence report and witness accounts outside of MSU.

Col. Xerxes Trinidad has stated that the sultan was allegedly one of the accomplices who caused the blast using a 60-mm mortar in the middle of a catholic mass at about 7 a.m. on December 3 that caused at least four people killed and many were injured in the incident.

Sultan is allegedly one of the companions of a certain alias Omar, the man tagged as the one who brought an improvised explosive device to the Dimaporo gymnasium inside the university.

During the capture of the sultan, authorities seized two motorcycles and the AFP is committed to continuing the search for the other suspects involved in the incident.

The Philippine National Police on Tuesday released a cartographic sketch of two suspects, identified as Kadapi Mimbesa alias engineer, and Arsani Membisa, alias katab, papitos, alleged operatives of the Daulah Islamiyah-Maute group who fit the description of the individuals who were seen entering the MSU premises and inside the gymnasium before the explosion.
