Point Ticketing System to Take Effect in January 2025

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police (Polri) will introduce a point-based ticketing system. With this system, drivers who have accumulated a certain number of points can have their driving privileges revoked.
Traffic Corps Head Insp. Gen. Aan Suhanan said this policy will take effect in January 2025. “In January, the traffic record will be published. This means that in accordance with the existing regulations, the existing Police Regulation (Perpol) applies a merit point system,” said Suhanan, Friday (1/3).
In this system, SIM holders earn 12 points a year. Points are deducted if the driver commits offences. An accumulation of 12 points will result in a temporary licence suspension. If it reaches 18 points, the police have the right to withdraw and block the driver's licence.
Minor offences are subject to a 1-point deduction. Moderate and serious offences will be deducted 3 and 5 points respectively. If it causes fatality, 12 points will be deducted immediately. While hit-and-run cases will lead to immediate licence revocation.
