SEAToday.com, Banyuwangi - Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa conducted an inspection of Blimbingsari Airport, Banyuwangi, to ensure its readiness for the upcoming Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) holiday season. The review took place during her working visit to Banyuwangi on Friday, December 13, 2024.

The Deputy Minister assessed the airport’s facilities and infrastructure managed by Injourney Airport. Her inspection covered various aspects, including passenger flow, luggage handling, toilet cleanliness, regional music performances, and the operational readiness of Christmas and New Year service posts starting December 18, 2024.

“We conducted an airport readiness check in Banyuwangi ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, as tourist traffic is expected to increase from December 18,” stated Deputy Minister Ni Luh Puspa, as quoted from the Ministry of Tourism's official website.

Banyuwangi, designated as one of Indonesia's National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN), is renowned for its stunning natural attractions and culinary specialties. The inspection aimed to ensure safe and comfortable experiences for incoming tourists during the festive season.

In support of this, the Ministry of Tourism issued Circular Letter Number SE/1/PP.03.00/MP/2024 on December 4, 2024. The directive emphasizes the implementation of safe, comfortable, and enjoyable tourism activities during the holiday season. It was distributed to regional leaders, tourism offices in 38 provinces, tourism businesses, and operators.

“This circular serves as a guide to ensure excellent services, particularly tourist safety, during the Christmas and New Year celebrations,” emphasized the Deputy Minister.

Tourism projections for December 2024 estimate 78.2 million domestic tourists and between 1.02 million and 1.325 million international visitors. Cumulative foreign tourist arrivals in 2024 have already reached 11.57 million, approaching the target of 14.3 million.

“We are optimistic that the Christmas and New Year holiday season will help us achieve our upper-limit target for international tourist arrivals,” concluded the Deputy Minister of Tourism.
