On Monday (4/12), the Philippine national police identified two suspects that they believed were behind the bombing at the Dimaporo Gymnasium at Mindanao State University.

The suspects are related to foreign terrorists namely the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or ISIS, which recently also claimed responsibility for the attack through the dark web.

Responding to the incident/ the chief of the Philippines armed forces, General Romeo Brawner said that the bombing may have been a retaliatory attack for operations against local extremist groups.

Hence, the Chief of Regional Police, Allan Nobleza, said that the institution would not divulge the names of suspects, as a means to protect the investigation process.

In addition, police offices in the capital region, Mindanao, and police checkpoints were also put on high alert and tightened to prevent any possible follow-up incidents.
