SEAToday.com, Manila - Super Typhoon Man-Yi, also known as Pepito, unleashed heavy rains and powerful winds, causing widespread disruptions to flights and transportation services across the Philippines.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a total of 75 domestic flights and 18 international flights operated by Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific were canceled on Sunday and Monday (11/18), as reported by The Manila Times.

The typhoon struck the country on Saturday night (11/16), injuring two individuals and impacting more than 850,000 people nationwide, according to Inquirer.Net.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 111,658 people were forced to evacuate and are now staying in temporary shelters.

The storm's strong winds uprooted trees, toppled power lines, and tore roofs off houses, adding to the challenges faced by affected communities.

As of Saturday night, Typhoon Man-Yi was still packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour when it made landfall on Catanduanes Island, a sparsely populated area.

In response to the disaster, the government mobilized over 36,000 rescue personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard to assist those affected and address the damage caused by the typhoon.
