SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Israeli government agreed to a ceasefire with Hamas on Wednesday (11/22). The ceasefire provides a four-day respite from the humanitarian crisis that has been ongoing for at least six weeks.
Under the deal, the Israeli government said Hamas will release 50 of the approximately 240 hostages it is holding in Gaza. The Israeli government will also extend the truce by one day for every 10 hostages released. In addition, the use of drones in northern Gaza will cease for six hours a day, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time, for four days.
Israel was also asked to allow access to hundreds of trucks carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza. In addition, Israel agreed not to attack or arrest anyone in any part of the Gaza Strip.
It is not yet known when the ceasefire will begin. Hamas said the first hostages to be released would be women and children.
