Former One Direction Member Liam Payne Passes Away

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Liam Payne, a singer and former member of One Direction, passed away after falling from a hotel window in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday (10/16). He was 31 years old.
As reported by CNN, Payne's death occurred at a hotel on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood, according to a police statement.
Buenos Aires police said that personnel from the 14B Police Station went to the hotel on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a 911 call about an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The police statement did not identify the person as Payne.
Payne was seen in Argentina attending a concert by his former bandmate, Niall Horan, on October 2, according to videos uploaded to social media from the event.
Liam Payne was best known as a member of the famous British boy band, One Direction. The band, which also included Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, was first formed in 2010 after each member appeared on the British version of the reality competition show "The X Factor".
One Direction announced they would be going on hiatus in 2015. Payne then released his debut solo album in 2019 titled "LP1". In May 2023, Payne announced that he was working on a new album that he was "very excited" about, and shared that he was planning a tour.
He had been open about his past struggles with substance abuse and talked about completing treatment and six months without alcohol in the summer of 2023.
The tour was scheduled to kick off in South America in September of the same year, but Payne had to postpone the scheduled dates after suffering a kidney infection.
In March of this year, Payne released the song "Teardrops". Payne has a son who was born in 2017, from his relationship with former member of the girl group Girls Aloud, Cheryl Cole.
