Nusantara Authority to Take Action Regarding Illegal Mining

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) will take firm action against 3,000 hectares of illegal mining. According to OIKN Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources Myrna Asnawati on Friday (11/24), these illegal mines will be closed.

To crack down on illegal mining, OIKN will collaborate with the police, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Higher Prosecutor's Office, and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to form a joint task force. Meanwhile, for legal mining, operations will remain permitted until the permit period is complete.

In addition, OIKN Director of Forestry and Water Resources Utilisation Development, Pungky Widiaryanto, said that legal mining permits should no longer be extended, nor should new mining permits be granted.
