Japan to Require TB Test for Travelers in 2024

SEAToday.com, Japan - The Japanese government will make tuberculosis (TB) tests mandatory in 2024 for tourists from Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, Nepal, and Myanmar.
Japan's Health Minister, Keizo Takemi, stated that the test will apply to travelers from the six countries who will visit for more than three months. In the Upper House Committee on Health, Labor, and Welfare on Thursday (11/16), Takemi said the test was imposed due to the large number of new TB patients in Japan from these countries.
This test cannot be done anywhere, so tourists will be asked to take TB tests at medical institutions designated by the Japanese government. If the test results prove positive, Japan will not issue a visa.
