SEAToday.com, Den Haag - The International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced that they will deliver the much-awaited ruling on South Africa’s genocide case against Israel on Friday (1/26) at 12.00 pm GMT.

Friday’s ruling will not deal with the question whether Israel is committing genocide, but to look at possible emergency measures. The court’s decision could potentially order emergency measures against Israel for its military operation in Gaza per South Africa’s request to protect Palestinians from the potential breaches of the genocide convention.

South Africa had previously brought Israel in the ICJ against alleged breach of the 1948 Genocide Convention. South Africa file nine injunctions to the court which includes immediate cease of Israel’s military operation, measures to prevent genocide of Palestinians, access to humanitarian aid, and ensures the displaced to return to their homes.
