SEAToday.com, East Java - The Tulungagung General Election Commission (KPU) said it has removed a Rohingya resident who was allegedly included on the permanent voter list (DPT) for the 2024 election.

It began following information from the Blitar Immigration Office to Tulungagung General Election Supervisory Agency that a Rohingya person named Mohammad Sofi, who lived in Ngunut District, Tulungagung, was registered as a DPT.

Sofi was suspected of being an illegal alien since 2006 and was registered as a DPT after showing his ID card and family card during the screening and research process. Beside Sofi, Hasan, a Rohingya person living in Besuki district, Tulungagung, is known to have had an ID card since 2012.

Tulungagung KPU Commissioner Muchammad Arif, Monday (1/8), could not confirm whether Sofi and Hasan had participated in the general election or general election while holding an ID card.

"Both now do not have ID cards and have been revoked of their Indonesian citizenship. So they no longer qualified as voters,"
