SEAToday.com, Papua - The Biak Numfor Regency Government, Papua together with the Tourism Office will establish an underwater museum, set to become a regional flagship tourist destination in 2024.
Head of the Biak Numfor Tourism Office Onny Dangeubun on Sunday (1/7) revealed that the application for a license to establish this museum has been approved by the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs. It is currently waiting for a decision letter from the Ministry.
Tourism Office's Destination Division Head Berto Sroyer said that the underwater museum area covers the Padaido/Aimando Waters. The museum features World War II relics in these waters such as torpedo nets and airplane wrecks.
Berto hopes that this museum can become a leading tourist destination in Papua and will increase tourist visits.
