SEAToday.com, Gaza - Senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri reportedly has been killed in an Israeli drone strike on Beirut suburb, Lebanon, Tuesday (2/1).

Al-Arouri was a senior official in Hamas’s politburo and was known to be deeply involved in its military affairs. At least five other people were also killed in the attack. Hamas official channel called the attack to be a “treacherous Zionist strike”.

The attack was said to threaten a significant and dangerous escalation of Israel’s conflict in the region, as expressed by Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has also called the strike as a “serious assault on Lebanon”.
