SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Navy intercepted and shadowed a boat suspected of being used for the Rohingya Human Trafficking Crime in the waters east of Weh Island, Aceh, on Wednesday (12/27).

Previously, while on patrol, the Indonesian Navy received a report about the appearance of the Shwe Ya Danar 3 wooden boat which was suspected of being used for human trafficking.

KRI Bontang-907, which at that time was part of the security operation there, immediately shadowed the boat to secure the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone which borders India's EEZ. After being ensured that it was in good condition, the boat continued to be shadowed until it left the Indonesia-India EEZ boundary.

The Indonesian government is determined to hunt down perpetrators of human trafficking, especially those related to the problems currently occurring in Aceh. This effort is the state's obligation in accordance with the UN Convention against Transnational Crime.
