President Joko Widodo Mosque in Abu Dhabi Opens to Public

SEAToday.com, Abu Dhabi - The Mosque of President Joko Widodo, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) officially opens to the public starting Thursday (12/14).

Present at the inauguration ceremony were UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure H.E. Suhail Al Mazroei, Chairman of Awqaf (General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowment) Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Direi, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE H.E. Husin Bagis and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdullah Salem Aldhaheri.

Ambassador Bagis, in his remarks stated that the mosque is a symbol of brotherhood between the two nation’s presidents, as Sheikh Zayed's mosque was also constructed in Solo, Indonesia. He also wished for the mosque to be well-utilized by the Indonesians and the diplomatic corps in Abu Dhabi and surroundings.

The mosque began construction in 2021 and was completed around October 2023. It is located in the Abu Dhabi diplomatic area and crossed by President Joko Widodo Street. The mosque stands on land with an area of 3,766 square meters and can accommodate up to 2,500 worshipers.
