Mahkamah Agung Colorado Memutuskan Trump Tidak Memenuhi Syarat untuk Mencalonkan Diri Sebagai Presiden
SEAToday.com, Colorado - Mahkamah Agung Colorado, Selasa (19/12) memutuskan Donald Trump tidak memenuhi persyaratan menduduki jabatan presiden, dan mencabutnya dari daftar calon presiden. Keputusan ini mengutip klausa pemberontakan terhadap konstitusi akibat keterlibatannya dalam pemberontakan 6 Januari.
Keputusan bersejarah dengan skor 4-3 ini menandai pertama kalinya seorang kandidat presiden dianggap tidak memenuhi syarat untuk menjabat atas aturan yang juga jarang digunakan, yaitu Pasal 3 Amandemen ke-14 Konstitusi AS. Klausa ini mendiskualifikasi orang untuk menduduki jabatan di Gedung Putih jika mereka pernah terlibat dalam pemberontakan.
Meski hanya berlaku untuk pemilihan pendahuluan Partai Republik di Colorado pada tanggal 5 Maret, keputusan ini kemungkinan akan mempengaruhi status pencalonan Trump dalam pilpres AS November mendatang.
Tim kampanye Trump akan mengajukan banding ke Mahkamah Agung AS terkait masalah ini.
