SEAToday.com, United States - Police Academy Brigadier Helena Fiorentina won the essay competition at the 10th Session of the UNCAC Conference of States Parties (CoSP10). This event was held in the United States from December 11–15. Helena competed with three other winners, namely cadet Le Thi Cam Van from the Vietnamese Police Academy, cadet Jiramet Sungkeetanon from the Thai Police Academy, and cadet Marc Joseph L. Vitto from the Philippine Police Academy.

In the essay competition, Brigadier Helena addressed the issue of corruption in Indonesia, its impact on Indonesian society, and corruption prevention in her role as a police academy cadet. Helena was the only Indonesian cadet to highlight the importance of the role of young people in the fight against corruption.

UNODC’s Regional Anti-Corruption Adviser for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Annika Whytes, hopes that young people around the world will be inspired to stand up against corruption.
