SEAToday.com, Gaza - Samer Abudaqa, an Al Jazeera cameraperson, died after sustaining severe injuries during an Israeli drone attack in southern Gaza on Friday (12/15).

Reports indicate that Abudaqa was wounded near a school in Khan Younis. Paramedics faced challenges reaching him for hours due to heavy shelling by Israeli forces in the city. It took over five hours to arrange safe passage for Abudaqa, but by the time medics arrived, the journalist had already passed away.

Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau chief, Wael Dahdouh, was also injured in the attack. He suffered shrapnel wounds in his upper arm and was subsequently transferred to Nasser Hospital.

According to preliminary investigations by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), as of December 15, at least 64 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7. The majority of the killed journalists were Palestinians.
