SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, reminded the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19, including both complete and booster doses. This is essential in response to the rising cases of COVID-19 in several countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, which is experiencing a daily case increase of 35-40 cases.
This increase in cases is dominated by the Omicron XBB 1.5 subvariant, which has also hit Europe and the United States. Alongside the XBB variant, Indonesia has identified the EG2 and EG5 subvariants.
In addition, Maxi also urged the public to follow health protocols, including wearing masks when sick, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap, as measures to protect against COVID-19 transmission.
