SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Head of the Educational Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency (BSKAP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Anindito Aditomo, said the 2022 PISA survey showed the recovery of learning for Indonesian students after the pandemic. It is hoped that this recovery will be maintained through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which is planned to become a mandatory curriculum in 2024.
The Merdeka Curriculum began to be implemented voluntarily in 2022. As many as 140,000 schools in 2022 will implement this new curriculum. In 2023, 160,000 schools will be recorded as having implemented the Merdeka Curriculum.
Anindito explained that schools need to transform as a whole so that the education ecosystem in the region improves. The strategy is to improve the quality of teachers, school principals, curriculum, and learning, as well as through evaluation and quality assurance. These points will be implemented through the Merdeka Curriculum as well.
